“The spiritual life, to which ART  belongs and of which she is one of the mightiest elements,” Kandinsky wrote in 1911, “is a complicated but definite and easily definable movement forwards and upwards. This movement is the movement of experience.”

Kandinsky’s book « Concerning the spiritual in Art » is part of a huge literature which studies the particular relationships between the artists and the sacred .

Many dancers – independently of their personal religion or philosophy – have a particular intimate relation with the spiritual and express it through their dances either directly or in a most subtle way.
