Group NORTH AFRICA and MIDDLE EAST

Mission:  Study of the sacred dances of the peoples of North Africa and the Middle East with Islam as principal spirituality and Sufism as a denominator varying  from one region to another

Objectifs :

• STUDY of dances of Maghreb and Egypt ,  with emphasis on their ecstatic aspect and the role of women
• STUDY of Sufism in Türkiye, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Persia, India, Afghanistan , Pakistan
• STUDY of the relations between Islam and Dance.
• STUDY of classical Iranian Dances
• STUDY of traces of pre-Islamic spiritualities  in current dances

• Organization of ONLINE SEMINARS (at least one per year)
• Constitution of INVENTORIES OF SACRED DANCES from various regions
• Creation of IN SITU EVENTS (presentations, conferences, festivals …)
  at UNESCO or any country using the logo “Dance and Spirituality”
